That is an unusual move for a consumer betting app. When I ran Optimal's grading screen during an NBA slate, the models flagged which props and game lines carried an edge, and the color-coded grades made it easy to see when to fire and when to pass. You can track every bet you plan on placing directly in Optimal, though there is no sportsbook sync, so everything goes in manually. Optimal also surfaces the best available number across books, calculates the vig on existing lines, and runs an arbitrage feed for bettors holding accounts at several books. Optimal AI (Beta)
Optimal's newest feature moves its data out of the app entirely. Optimal AI uses the Model Context Protocol to connect odds, projections, game logs, and team history to Claude, ChatGPT, Perplexity, and any other MCP client, with no API key and a setup that takes a couple of minutes. You can ask where two books disagree most on tonight's slate, or have it assemble a parlay from graded plays, and the answer comes back with Optimal's numbers behind it. It is still labeled beta and covers the NFL, NBA, MLB, NHL, and WNBA.

Projections are the core of Optimal Bet, and the prop research layer sits on top of them. It is not as deep as what the dedicated prop tools offer, but the data is displayed cleanly and the filters are easy to work through. Projected box scores cover every WNBA and NHL game, and the August builds extended the same engine to weekly fantasy football projections, which are drawn from the same prop lines the +EV models grade.

If you bet one season hard and take the rest of the year off, the monthly plan is now a reasonable choice instead of a trap.
At $35 a month, Optimal sits in the same price conversation as dedicated +EV tools, so it has to earn its spot with the quality of the models, not just the size of the bundle.

Lacks Niche Customization
Optimal is built for general use, and bettors with niche strategies or sport-specific edges may feel limited. There is little room for customizing the algorithm's logic or adjusting filters to fit personal betting styles. Tools like OddsJam cost more, but they let you save filter presets and build a screen around the one market you actually specialize in.
The Annual Plan Now Costs $419.99
Optimal used to win the value argument by default. At $419.99 a year, or roughly $35 a month, it now has to win it on the models. The weekly and monthly tiers held at $19.99 and $49.99, so the only way to cut the per-month cost is the full year, and Optimal's pricing page does not list a quarterly Optimal+ plan for bettors who only need one season. A mid-priced seasonal option would give NFL and NBA bettors a fairer middle ground.
Feature Depth
The models are the main value proposition and they hold up. Around them, the gaps are still there. Bet tracking has no sportsbook sync, so every wager is entered by hand, and prop research trails the dedicated prop tools. Optimal AI is promising but still in beta. The release notes show the team adding new surfaces at a fast clip, and tracker sync would do more for daily use than another projection type.

Skip it if you need sportsbook-synced tracking or a heavily customized screen for one market. For everyone else, a week of real slates answers the question faster than any review.
