Many +EV tools read the same odds feeds, which means many of them surface the same bets at the same moment, and the edge disappears as fast as everyone can click. Upside Tools takes a different route. Every price in the suite comes from its own in-house data rather than a third party odds API, and that shows up in the bets it finds: derivative markets, alternate lines and pick'em props that plenty of scanners never touch.
One of the first bets that caught my eye was California -20.5 on an alternate spread, sitting at 8 to 1 on FanDuel while DraftKings hung +429 on the same number. Upside priced it at 18.6% EV. That is the kind of spot you only see when a tool is pricing markets itself instead of mirroring everyone else's board.
I tested the Diamond plan for a little over two weeks across NFL, college football, MLB and tennis, and I spoke with the team directly along the way. The short version: this is a premium product, priced like one, and for the most part it earns it. Upside Tools is a sports betting software suite that finds positive expected value bets across sportsbooks, prediction markets and DFS pick'em apps, tracks where large bets land with its Whale Watch feed, and builds +EV fantasy slips. Upside is web only, so it works on desktop and in a mobile browser, but there is no app to download. Most of my testing happened on a laptop, where the Optimizer's book columns have room to breathe.
Key Features of Upside Tools
Upside calls itself six tools and one live market. In practice, most of your time goes into three of them: the Optimizer, the +EV Sniper and Whale Watch.
The Optimizer
The Optimizer is the core of every plan. You choose the book you want to beat and it ranks every play by edge, showing the price, the EV, the fair odds, the chance to hit, and every other book's number with its limit where one is posted. With Novig selected on an NFL slate, the top rows included Jaylen Warren over 89.5 rushing yards at +223 against a fair price of +180, worth +15.5%, and Colston Loveland over 49.5 receiving yards at +270 for +13.0%.
Expand a row and you get the over and under at each book, including alternate lines, plus a jump straight into the full odds screen. The line history view charts how each book has moved over the last hour, day or week, which is how you confirm a price is stale rather than just different. Deep linking takes you straight to the market at the book, and it worked cleanly throughout my testing.
The +EV Sniper
The Sniper, on Diamond, is the whole market on one board: every sport, market and book, ranked by EV and refreshing every second. One afternoon it opened with the Eagles team total under at +750 on DraftKings for +20.3%, followed by a tennis moneyline at +350 and a Dolphins and Vikings under 43.5 at -115 on FanDuel for +9.0%. It spans a very wide range of markets, from mainlines to team totals to props, and one tap sends a play to the book or to your DFS slip.
Whale Watch
Whale Watch is where Upside pulls ahead of most tools I have tested. It shows where large bets and trades came in, at what price and for how much, then lists everywhere you can still get the same side. On one Yordan Alvarez under 1.5 hits card, $1.0k of whale money had come in through trades at -205 and -192 on ProphetX and -186 on Novig. Upside then listed more than a dozen books with the same play, led by +145 at Smacktok for a +64.7% edge.
That is what separates it from most sharp money trackers, which tell you a big bet happened and leave the rest to you. Upside shows you the price the whale paid, how much liquidity was there, and the better number you can take elsewhere. You can filter by edge, whale size and stake, and Gold and Diamond both track the historical ROI of the signals.
Custom Weights, Presets and Filters
The EV math is fully adjustable. You can set custom weights for how much each book counts toward fair value, save your filters as Views, and set a minimum number of compared books, a minimum EV and an odds-to-hit range. You do not have to build any of this on day one, though. Presets such as Matt's Prop Weights, from the face of Upside's content, let you work a usable prop board right away.
DFS Optimizers
Upside goes deeper on pick'em than most +EV tools. The Fantasy Props optimizer prices PrizePicks, Underdog, Sleeper, Dabble and Pick6 projections against the sharp market, shows the hit rate each leg needs, and ranks the plays that clear it. On PrizePicks, where a standard leg needs 54.3% to break even, it flagged props at 54.2% and below in yellow and red so you can see exactly where the edge runs out. Pick'em apps are not available in New York, where I am based, so I reviewed the numbers rather than entering slips.
Arbitrage, Low Hold and Prop Discrepancies

Why Upside Tools Stands Out
It Runs on Its Own Data
Upside does not buy its odds from a single outside API. It gathers and prices markets in house, which is why its board looks different from other +EV tools. The Cal alternate spread, pick'em props priced against sharp books with their limits, and whale trades pulled from prediction markets all come from the same in-house feed, and it is a big part of why Upside finds bets that do not show up on every other screen at the same time.
The Team Fixes Problems Fast
During my testing I found a few mispriced lines on the +EV feed and flagged them. They were fixed within two hours. It Is Built for Serious Bettors

Where Upside Tools Can Improve
Upside is strongest where its users spend the most time, and it shows. The +EV feed, Whale Watch and DFS optimizers are deep. Some of the rest has had less attention.
Arbitrage is the weak spot. The arbitrage finder works, but it is not where Upside puts its effort, and it lags behind tools built around arbitrage at a similar price. If arbitrage is the core of your strategy, Pick The Odds is a better fit.
The odds screen is still in beta, and some prices were out of sync. A handful of prices did not match the book when I clicked through, and I also flagged a few mispriced lines on the feed. The team fixed those within two hours, but you should still confirm a price at the book before you bet it.
It is priced as a premium product. At $199.99 a month, Diamond is a serious commitment, and the yearly plans that bring the price down do not come with a trial. A recreational bettor placing a few bets a week will struggle to make that back.
Web only. There is no mobile app yet. The site works in a phone browser, but a dense board like the Optimizer is much easier on desktop, and a native app would help for betting on the go.

Is Upside Tools Legit?
Yes. Upside Tools is a legitimate sports betting software company that sells subscriptions to its tools. It does not take bets or hold your money; you place every bet yourself at your own sportsbook, prediction market or DFS app.
The people behind it are public. Matt Downs, known as @PlusEV on X, fronts its content with daily videos and live streams using the tool, and the team answered my questions directly when we spoke. Upside says it has more than 3,400 members, its pricing and trial terms are published plainly, and when I flagged mispriced lines they were fixed within two hours. Its own site notes that user results are not typical and that betting involves risk, which is the right way to present them.
Is Upside Tools Worth It?
For serious bettors, yes. If you bet +EV props and game lines most days, play DFS pick'em, or want to follow sharp money without guessing, Upside gives you a deep feed built on its own data, one of the more useful whale tools on the market, and a team that fixes problems in hours. Diamond is the plan to get, and yearly billing at $83.33 a month is a strong price once you know you are staying.
It is pricey compared to some tools and cheap compared to others, and it is not trying to be the cheapest. If you bet a few times a week, a $49 tool like Prop Professor or a free plan elsewhere will serve you better. If arbitrage is your main strategy, look elsewhere too.
